Frequently Asked Questions

Introduction

TJNTIY is the place where executive search consultants, corporate recruiters, and senior-level executives known as hiring managers come to share the strange things that candidates do that frequently ruin their chances of being hired. TJNTIY offers a weirdly riveting look inside the executive suite as candidates apparently come unglued under the pressure of job interviews and blow it as in "they're just not that into you". We also invite TIY (they're . . . into you) anecdotes on the remarkable things candidates do or say that results in their being hired over everyone else. The everyday anecdotes and stories are submitted by our users, which we then publish on the site. The site is all in good fun. It is meant to entertain and to educate, providing valuable insight to candidates to assist them in landing their next jobs.

Who's behind TJNTIY.com?

The good people at The Good Search founded TJNTIY.com because we believe a little levity could go a long way these days. In anecdote after anecdote, you get to hear how hiring managers assess and ultimately decide against a candidate who could have been you or me. That insight, we hope, will help candidates not make similar mistakes during their next job interviews. TIY postings, on the other hand, provide real-world examples of things a candidate can says or does to get hired. It's also the place where recruiters offer the advice. Candidate TJNTIYs are from the candidate perspective on the frustrating, insulting, or just plain weird things prospective employers say and do that suggest "they're just not that into you".

What's this site all about?

TJNTIY.com contains a daily dose of TJNTIY anecdotes, based on a simple recipe: in a few sentences in a single paragraph, recruiters and hiring managers share their anecdotes, be it subtle or outrageous. The purpose of these posts is to entertain and educate. Every post should end with "TJNTIY". TIY postings should end with "TIY".

How does it work?

Quite simply: each user can contribute to the site and submit his own story by clicking on the "Submit Your Story" link in the menu at the top right-hand side of the page. As soon as your story is on line, visitors can vote it UP or DOWN. Anecdotes that are the highest rated appear in our "Top" sections.

Why has my TJNTIY been removed from the site?

A good TJNTIY or TIY is based on your own personal experience and written in first person. They should seem witty, well written, original and real . . .that the events really did happen as described.

Why should I create a member's account?

If you're a recruiter, you can establish yourself as a expert, offering advice and humor to candidates who come here -- some may be in the postion to use your recruiting services now or in the future. If you're a candidate (whether gainfully employed or not), this is a place to get to know recruiters, which serves as a kind of career insurance. You never know when you need us. However, even if you do not sign up to become a fully fledged TJNTIY.com member, you can still submit a TJNTIY anonymously and vote for the anecdotes so they can climb the Top of our charts.

How can I find an TJNTIY or another member?

If you want to find a member, you can click on the member name of the post to pull up their profile.
